A low-key day. We read and went for a couple short walks in the sunshine. For dinner, we had reservations nearby at Crudo Fritto & Bollicine, where we ate one of our best meals of the trip. Our server was a young guy who spoke some English. We were the only guests for a while, and he spent time explaining the menu and serving us with care. Ken was seated so that he could watch meal preparation in the open kitchen, and he was impressed with the confidence of the chef. As we were eating our secondi (main dish), the chef came out and our server introduced him as his father. We told him the food was molto bene (very good).
While we were eating postre (dessert), a couple sat next to us with their sweet small dog that immediately laid down and went to sleep. We learned that they were from Switzerland, but he was originally German and she was Romanian. The dog was Havanese. We were told that he was not usually that well behaved; he could be quite mischievous. Like us, the couple had been in Garda a few days, and were glad to be in Salo now, away from the noisy crowds and souvenir shops.
| We ended up on the riva again in the afternoon, just enjoying the beautiful weather and the quiet of midweek. |
| The cobblestone street to our apartment was painted with daisies. |
