2025 Italy, Day 18: Ancona, Night 5 of 5

If you would like to see details about our journey, check out our itinerary and our bike route.

A rain day. We made reservations for lunch at the Gallo Rosso near the harbor and the National Archaeological Museum, donned our raincoats, and walked the now familiar main road into the center of the old city.

The food at the Gallo Rosso was traditional with a twist--good seasonal local products, put together in adventurous ways. The restaurant was very small, and everyone had to crowd inside because of the rain. It was fun.

The museum had exhibits dating back to the beginning of civilization in the area, with artifacts laid out chronologically on three floors. And it was gratis (free) the day we were there. We followed instructions from the kind guides on each floor, and moved through history for a couple of hours.

When we emerged, we reversed our route back to our apartment and spent the evening getting ready to head up the coast the next day.
