France 2022: Dijon, Day 2

Walk: from apartment around Dijon, following the Owl Route, 3.5 miles

Accommodation: L’Atelier de la Tour (Airbnb)

While I paid bills, confirmed reservations, and worked on the blog, Ken researched what we should do for our day off in Dijon. About noon, we put on our sandals and ventured out on the Owl Trail of Dijon: following brass arrows set in the sidewalk and descriptions posted on a website we had pulled up on our phones, we visited over 20 sites in the city. A great way to explore the city and get some exercise.

Owl arrows led the way.

Numbered owl plaques matched up with numbered descriptions on the Owl Trail website.

The Market Hall was one of the sites on the trail.

While standing in line for a slice of nougat, we talked to the woman ahead of us, who is from France but now lives in New England. Her daughter was buying bags of this candy to take back to her husband, who is a pilot. The woman told us the guy with the knife makes this candy completely from scratch, using nuts and fruit from his farm, and it is the best nougat in France. We believe her. It was incredible.

The Owl Trail included a walk through an area with a simple description saying to just look at all the wonderful examples of architecture. So we did.
