France: Beaugency

Bike (Ken, Cheryl, and Konur): 18 miles, 480 feet of climb

Train (Meghan)

Accommodation: Maison des Quatres-Vents Suite Bleu (Airbnb), hosts Isabelle, Joel, and Kai. Two-bedrooms suite with private bath, breakfast included, garage for bikes, private garden, in 16th century home near old center of town. Joel and Kai were warm and welcoming, and patient with our lack of French; we communicated through Google Translate. Breakfast was amazing. We loved the quirky rooms decorated with period furniture.

Konur's first day on the bike, and he did awesome!

Loaded up and ready to go.

On the Eurovelo 6 cycleway along the Loire River.

Meghan took the train from Orleans to Beaugency, and met us in a park by the river.

An 18th-century bridge crosses the Loire on the edge of Beaugency.

The Saint-Etienne Church in Beaugency.

Having fun with a sculpture.

One of the traditional half-timbered homes we saw along the Loire--and later in the Alsace region. Half-timbered houses were built in France from the late 15th century to the early 19th century.
