Santander, Day 2
Walking route: Estudio Naranja apartment to Playa Sardinero and back, 3.2 miles
It was coolish and misty when we got up this morning. We spent a couple of hours planning our route and booking accommodations for next week, from San Sebastian through the Spanish and French Basque area. About half of that time was spent researching the health requirements for entering France, where we are hoping to spend two nights. To eat or stay in France, we must have a QR code that can be obtained by sending an email to the French government with electronic copies of our passport, a completed health declaration form, our CDC vaccination record, and our return airline ticket. We sent the emails off, and got back replies saying the government has received a very large number of requests and will get to ours when it can. If we don't have our QR codes by August 24, we may have to forfeit our reservations in France and reroute through Spain. C'est la vie!
By noon the sun was peeking through the clouds, so we put on our swimsuits and sandals, loaded backpacks with towels and extra shirts, and headed for the Playa Sardinero. Ken played in the water while I enjoyed the sun on the beach. On the way back, we stopped for scallops and cod fritters.
After dinner we FaceTimed with Meghan and talked with my mother, rested, and read. It was good to have some downtime.
It is about a 1.6 mile walk from our apartment to the main beach, Playa Sardinero. We enjoyed the sunshine and the small crowds of people out on this nice Sunday afternoon. |
