2023 United Kingdom, Day 14: Penzance, Night 2 of 3

Bike Route: none

Walking Route: To laundromat and grocery store twice, about 2 miles

Accommodation: Lovely 1-Bedroom Apartment (Airbnb); hosts Phil and Chris

Dinner: Cornish pasties, local asparagus, strawberries, and blueberries in our apartment

It continued to rain all night and all day. We were so glad to have a rest day in a nice apartment. We did venture out to wash and dry clothes, and check out a few local bakeries and grocery stores. We spent several hours loading and reviewing our routes for the next two weeks. I worked on my Wahoo for a while, resetting everything and researching issues online, waiting for the Wahoo support line to open at 14:00. When I finally got through to the help desk, the technician quickly figured out the problem and we got my device back up and running. The Wahoo has limited memory, and it cannot hold maps for the entire world. I still had maps for France and Germany loaded (from our trips last year), and had forgotten to delete them and load the England and Wales maps. It looks like everything is working well now. Yeah!

Penzance is an old town that was home to fishers and to merchants who served the seaport. In the 1950s, many of the terrace houses above the commercial area were turned into bed-and-breakfasts, and today these remain popular with tourists. It is not a wealthy town and has been struggling to find new sources of income.

A relaxing dinner of traditional Cornish pasties, fresh asparagus, and fruit from local markets.
