Santander, Day 3 of 3

Walking Route: Apartment to train station and back, apartment to ice cream shop and back, 5 miles

The sun is shining, the gingko trees are turning yellow, and even the chestnut trees are starting to lose their leaves. After a leisurely breakfast with lots of coffee, we walked down to the train station to get an idea of how to navigate it tomorrow with the bikes. We found baggage carts by the entrance, located Plaza 2 (where we will board our train), and got familiar with the departure board. Santander has a small station, with only four departure platforms. We think we can handle it. Tomorrow, Girona!

On the way back to our apartment from the train station, we stopped at a carniceria (butcher shop) to get 100 kilograms of Iberico jamon. An acorn diet fed to the pigs gives this cured ham, unique to Spain and Portugal, an incredible nutty flavor.
